What is the difference between Registering WorkStrip and Validating a Licence?
If you bought WorkStrip from our Web site, then you do not need to register with us again, as you will have already given us the necessary information. If you have bought a packaged copy then you must register with us to receive technical support and other information.
Registering is done via our web site and is necessary so that we can contact you with new information about WorkStrip updates.
The separate task of License Validation is required by the WorkStrip software to ensure that all of its features are still functioning once the evaluation period has expired. The activation key and confirmation ID contained in your license email have to be entered into WorkStrip.

Auto-shrink has stopped working, why?
Auto-shrink is one of the features that is disabled after the evaluation period expires. You can reactivate Auto-shrink by buying a license and entering the activation key and confirmation ID into WorkStrip.
-
Workspaces are disabled and I cannot bookmark anything, what has gone wrong?
Nothing has gone wrong. Workspaces are disabled after the thirty day evaluation period expires. You can reactivate Workspaces by buying a license and entering the activation key and confirmation ID into WorkStrip.

WorkStrip tells me that the evaluation period has expired, but I have only used it for a couple of days?
Check that the date and time on your Mac is correct. WorkStrip cannot tell if your clock is wrong. Setting the clock back will not solve this problem.
Titanium PowerBook owners with batteries that disconnect when the PowerBook is moved beware !!
Note: Version 1.0.2 and later will not load if the date is really way out, so setting the date back correctly and restarting may solve this problem.

I want to use WorkStrip and the Apple Control Strip, how can I make them use different modules ?
You need to create a new folder called WorkStrip Modules, as detailed below.
Open the WorkStrip preferences control panel and select the preferences tab. Click on the Hide WorkStrip button. Select "Finder" from the application menu, or quit all running applications until only the Finder remains. Open your startup hard disk, normally the hard disk at the top right of the Finder desktop. Locate and open your "System Folder." Locate and open the "Application Support" folder. Locate and open the "WorkStrip Support" folder. Create a new folder. Name the new folder "WorkStrip Modules." Place any control strip modules you want WorkStrip to load into this folder. Open the WorkStrip preferences control panel and select the preferences tab. Click on the Show WorkStrip button.
When the "WorkStrip Modules" folder exists, WorkStrip will only load modules that it finds in this folder, and will ignore all modules inside the normal "Control Strip Modules" folder. By using this method you can control which modules the Apple Control Strip loads and those which WorkStrip loads.
Note: WorkStrip and the Apple Control Strip cannot load some modules concurrently and you should avoid putting copies of these modules in each folder.
You can use this method if you suspect a compatibility problem with a control strip module and WorkStrip. Use the "Hide WorkStrip" button to quit WorkStrip and then add a module to the WorkStrip modules folder; then click on the "Show WorkStrip" button to re-launch WorkStrip.
By a process of elimination you can locate whichever module is causing the problem.
Do not forget to contact support@softchaos.com so that we can investigate your findings.

WorkStrip has reported a problem with one of my modules and has disabled it. How do I reactivate it?
